Hinch traveled to Randalstown knowing they needed to put in a good performance as preparation for the upcomming Shield quarter final.
Hinch started well and from some early pressure on Randalstown's line Ian Wallace drove over to score at the base of the post. Carl Larkin added the conversion.
Hinch then missed to long range penalties. Randalstown applied pressure in the Hinch 22 and were awarded a penalty which they converted to leave the half time score 3- 7 in favor of Hinch.
Hinch were not going to allow this to become a close contest and took the game to Randalstown.
After some good play by the forwards the ball was sent along the back line and Adrian Dodd scored and added the conversion. Hinch were now in control and were camped in Randalstown's half. |

From a scrum taken against the head the ball was again moved across the backs and fullback Carl Larkin drew the defenders passed inside to allow Mark Magowan to score near the corner, Larkin added the longrange conversion. With around 10 mins to go and after around 5 phases of play between forwards and backs Adrian Dodd scored near the posts and again he added the conversion to leave the final score 3-28.
Tribute must be paid to Randalstown who never gave up and the discipline by both side was impressive. A mention must also go to the ref who allowed the game to flow as much as possible, well done. club. |
